My First Online Experience My online history first started when I started playing Neopets in late 2005. I was just amazed at how fun Neopets was (of course, that was when I much younger than now) and was completely clueless about Neopets fansites and petpages. All I thought about was the games and the Battledome. A few months later, in early 2006, I discovered petpages. I admired plot guides (at the time, there was the Cyodrake's Gaze plot), and general help petpages. I also stumbled upon a very impressive Neopets fansite, Jellyneo.net. I was astounded at all the content they had to offer. I was then inspired to make my own petpage that showed unreleased Neopets news. I called it "NeoWitness News". After keeping the petpage for a month or two, I got bored, and decided to make NeoWitness News into a website, because a petpage has limitations, of course. But being a complete n00b in coding and making graphics (which I had no idea how to make at first), it was a challenge. |

My First Website So, then, I decided to turn NeoWitness News into a website. I got hosting at Freewebs and not knowing how to make layouts or such, I chose a premade template. But being very picky, it took almost a whole day before I actually set the foundations. After choosing the layout, I got to work on writing tutorials and posting news. I then applied for affiliates at some sites. (Looking back, I was surprised how I got accepted) And then NeoWitness News grew. Speeding along, after months of being hosted by Freewebs, I hated how poorly their hosting was (no offense to Freewebs users), so after searching for hosts, I finally moved to Awardspace. It took a week to move all the files (I don't use FTP to this day is pretty sad), and finally it settled. I don't know how, with poor content, but we received 30 hits a day, with almost 40 affiliates. I was impressed, but could now could see all the flaws on my site after owning NWN for almost half a year. I decided to close it and make a new site. I came up with some names, and finally narrowed the list down to "Astro Neo", "Immortal Neo", and "Aqua Neo". I had a poll, and Immortal Neo won, but I couldn't find any ideas for a layout that would match the name, besides ghosts, but it didn't really fit with the time of year, so I chose Aqua Neo, which placed second, instead. |

Aqua Neo's Beginning After a few months of hard work, Aqua Neo was ready to be opened. We official opened on March 23rd, at 9am NST time. The site was a success, on the first day, we got over 30 page views, without advertising at all! :D I was very pleased, but then got very disappointed when I found out that the layout didn't work in Internet Explorer... And, also, at that time, I didn't know much coding, DIV coding was new to me, as was tables. I finally got around to read some tutorials, and eventually made several other layouts that were pretty decent. But soon, Aqua Neo turned from a small site to a medium site with a steady 30 hits a day, just like NeoWitness News, but with much more quality content. |

The Present Aqua Neo began to flourish and became a huge success in terms of Neopets fansites. Things were going smoothly, we offered more content, gained more hits and affiliates. One day, I visited Soo-Sweet and saw that Chelsea (who was an old affiliate of mine from NeoWitness News), the owner, was giving away free domains! Of course, I asked her if she could buy me a domain, and she said yes! I was really happy. When I got the domain, I decided to keep it a secret, and revamp Aqua Neo. When the time came, I released the new and improved Aqua Neo. It was a huge success! As things began to return to normal, it was pretty quiet. We got new staff members, added new departments, and offered non-neopets content also. What will happen in the near future? Stay tuned to find out! :D |
