In order to have a successful site, you should get more than 10 unique hits a day. But what are "hits"? Hits are pageviews. What is a pageview, you may ask? A pageview is when someone goes to your site. In other words, a visitor. Some sites will only affiliate with you if you get a certain amount of hits. Hits is an important part of having a site. If you have top-notch graphics and tutorials, but only get 3 visitors a day, it would be as if your site didn't exist. In this guide, you will learn some ways to increase traffic.
One way is to have lots of affiliates -- about 10 to 20 is good enough. Try to keep your affiliates out of a scroller, so they *might* do the same for you. The problem with scrollers is that it is harder to click on a site's affiliates. If you put all of your affiliates in a scroller, they will probably do the same for you. That means that you will get less hits. Also, try to get some partners. Partners are sites that help each other out constantly, and go over to each others' sites and chat. Partners are never placed in a scroller, so it will generate more hits. Partners is a much higher rank than an affiliate!
Another way to increase pageviews is to join Link Exchanges or Link Rotations. Gray Graphix and Nova And Co both offer Link Exchanges and Link Swaps. This program is a code that members place on their sites. A random member's link will show, generating more pageviews. Joining topsites also help. Topsites track how many visitors you get a day, while generating more pageviews for you!
Another simple, yet efficient way to get hits is to go to some sites that offer an advertising spot. You can apply for the advertisement, and they will ask you to make a banner. Be sure to make a nice-looking banner that will make people want to visit your site. Don't have a banner that says "Click Here". Obviously, no one wants to click on that if that's all it says. A better way is to say "Click here to visit *Site Name Here* for awesome graphics!" or something like that. Don't make your sign too blinding or too flashy. Keep it mellow. You will get at least one click per day. Next, you can go to sites and look around. If you like their site, comment in their chatbox that you like their site. Remember to spell correctly, and include your website's link. Usually, the site owner will thank you for the comment and will go to your site and comment on your chatbox that it is nice too. You can do the same thing with guestbooks. Or, if you see a nice graphic that someone posted on CuteNews, you also can do the same thing. Just be sure NEVER to go around sites' chatboxes and saying "Visit my site!! It's awesome!!". The site owners will most likely get mad, and you might be banned from their site.
